Music & Dance

What is ‘DANCE’? Why till last decade it was not a welcoming art in school curriculum, but now the scenario is very different.

The man behind the idea of introducing this beautiful expressive art in school curriculum is Akram Khan, a highly acclaimed choreographer in UK. Akram believes dance is as important as studying Maths or Medicine. The 41-year-old, who played a major role in the choreography for the opening ceremony of the London Olympic Games.

Akram had this to say on the matter “The performer and choreographer believes that dance can break through many barriers. He believes through dance, a political, religious and social connection can be created. When you speak to dancers, they will be the first to tell you that dance is much more than just having a good time. They see it as an art form that allows them to tell a story without a word being said.

The ideaology of RPSGOS is also similar to Mr. Akram and that is why we have nearly more than 35 GURUS of ‘Nratya’ in all its schools transforming their various art forms to students of all levels.

The philosophy of RPSGOS in regard to this fine way of communication is “dance education helps students develop physical fitness, appreciation of the body, concern for sound health practices, and effective stress management approaches.”

Nearly everyone enjoys music, whether by listening to it, singing, or playing an instrument. But despite this almost universal interest, many schools are having to do away with their music education programs but this is not the case with RPSGOS group. In all its branches the management has employed a full fledged team of musicians for we firmly believe that music is not only an enjoyable subject, but a subject that can enrich students’ lives and education.

A music learner can develop numerous qualities, to name a few are: it can develop spatial intelligence, musical instrument can teach discipline, it can develop fine-tuned auditory skills it helps all to fight stress & anxiety, music earns name & fame.

Moreover RPSGOI has laid a lot of stress on appointments of fine musicians for one good reason that it can, Better SAT scores: Students who have experience with music performance or appreciation score higher on the SAT. One report indicates 63 points higher on verbal and 44 points higher on math for students in music appreciation courses.

RPSD has almost 9 musicians from different instrumental & music backgrounds, training children of all ages, winning most of the competitions at intra, distt, state & national levels.
